Outside the Box

We are sorry Dipali that you had to leave us in this way. With an empty stomach and no way to survive till dawn, you left this world. I wonder what went through your mind that evening when you came back home to find that there was no food. Did you think about who did this to your family. Did you think about the big expensive vehicles you saw the last time you were in Dhaka? Did you wonder whether one of those people sitting behind that tinted black glass in that big car cares about you?

You must have had many dreams. Did you want to be a doctor when you grew up? Maybe you wanted to buy your father that boat he always wanted. Maybe you thought about the happy days you spent with your family. Maybe you prayed that they do not have to leave this world the way you had to.

I am sorry we let you down. I am sorry that we could not do anything for you. I am sorry that we do not really care.
